PETTIT, Francis Edward, a Representative from Washington County; born, October 31, 1900 in Dunn Station, Washington County, Pa.; graduated, Waynesburg College; director, Civil Defense, Washington County; teacher; athletic director, Nineveh High School (4 terms); assistant superintendent, acting superintendent, Washington County schools; construction and maintenance department, Highway Department, Washington County; engaged in the gas and oil industry; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1940 and 1942; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1944); elected, commissioner, Washington County (20 years); vice president, Huber Associates Incorporated; died, June 22, 1985 in California.
