NIXON, Michael Regis, a Representative from Washington County; born, November 21, 1911 in Masontown, Fayette County, Pa.; attended, University of Pittsburgh; lieutenant, "S.S. Marine Angel," United States Navy (World War II, 1944-1946); professional football player, Pittsburgh Pirates (1935) and Brooklyn Dodgers (1942); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1948; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1950); collegiate football assistant coach, West Virginia University (1939-1941); professional football assistant coach: Pittsburgh Steelers (1946-1952, 1961-1964); Chicago Cardinals (1952-1953); Washington Redskins (1954-1958); Philadelphia Eagles (1966-1968); professional football scout (1969-1980); professional football head coach: Washington Redskins (1959-1960); Pittsburgh Steelers (1965); died, September 22, 2000 in Schaumburg, Cook County, Illinois; interred, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.
