NAGEL, Reuben A., a Representative from Beaver County; born in Perry Township, Lawrence County, Pa., September 23, 1871; attended, Grove City College; graduated, Slippery Rock State Normal School (now Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania), 1894; teacher, Beaver County (2 years); head of the schools, Leetsdale, Allegheny County; general store owner; farm operator; elected, burgess, Leetsdale Borough (1905-1909); elected, justice of the peace, Beaver County (12 years); worker, Tax Justice League; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1934; reelected to the House in 1936, 1940, 1944, 1948 and 1950; appointed, chair, Local Government Commission (1941-1942); appointed, Joint Legislative Committee to Investigate Charges of Conspiracy in the General Assembly (1941-1942); appointed, Joint State Government Commission Sub-Committee on Cooperatives (1945-1946); unsuccessful campaigns for reelection to the House (1938, 1942, 1946); died while in office, prior to taking oath, November 15, 1950 in New Galilee, Beaver County, Pennsylvania; interred, Beaver Cemetery and Mausoleum, Beaver, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
