MURRAY, Hugh J., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, February 27, 1875 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; served, 1st Pennsylvania Volunteers (1898, Spanish-American War); supply sergeant, Pennsylvania National Guard (1916-1919, World War I); highway engineer; Inspector, Bureau of Highways, Philadelphia (1907-1937); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives by Special Election on May 19, 1942 to serve the remainder of the 1941 term; reelected to the House for the 1943 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1945 term; died, December 31, 1947 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
