MONTGOMERY, John William, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, September 24, 1898 in McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pa.; graduated, Carnegie Technical School; graduated, International Correspondence School; chief boatswain’s mate, "U.S.S. Tasker H. Bliss" (1942), "U.S.S. Elizabeth C. Stanton" (1942-1943), United States Navy (1942-1944, World War II); painting and decorating contractor; elected, controller, McKeesport; member, Allegheny County Republican Committee; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1939 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1940); appointed, sheriff, Allegheny County (1945); died, July 12, 1957 in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Richland Cemetery, Dravosburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
