McELWEE, William, Jr., a Representative from Lawrence County; born, Union Township, Lawrence County, Pa. on August 16, 1874; attended, Union School of New Wilmington; A.B., Westminster College, 1897; M.A., Westminster College. 1900; attorney; elected, solicitor, Lawrence County (1912-1920); treasurer, State Association of County Commissioners (7 years); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1930 and 1932; not a candidate for reelection to the House in the 1934 General election; died, August 24, 1951 in New Wilmington, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; interred, Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
