MATHAY, Jacob, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Mainz, Germany, September 28, 1884; graduated, Central High School, 1903; graduated, University of Pennsylvania Law School, 1906; governmental appeal agent, selective service draft (World War I); lawyer; member, 40th Ward Republican Committee; elected, city council, Philadelphia (1916-1920); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1923 term and reelected to serve 5 consecutive terms thereafter; died while in office, March 17, 1933 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
