KANE, Elisha Kent, a Representative from McKean County; born in Kushequa, McKean County, Pa., April 19, 1902; graduated, Kane High School; attended, Oberlin College; attended, Northwestern University; B.S., Princeton University, 1923; LL.B., University of Pittsburgh Law School, 1927; lieutenant commander, United States Navy (1942-1945, World War II); attorney for oil and gas companies, Bradford County; president, Kane Gas Light and Heating Company (1932-1978); president, Mount Jewett Gas Company; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1935, 1937 and 1939 terms; appointed, Commission to Make Certain Studies of Bituminous Coal Mines (1937-1940); appointed, Pennsylvania Commission on Interstate Cooperation (1939-1940); not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1941 term; died, March 21, 1980 in Bradford, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane, McKean County, Pennsylvania.
