HOLMES, Samuel Dismond, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, April 19, 1889 in Richmond, Va.; attended, St. Paul Normal and Industrial School; newsstand owner; businessman; employed, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1937 term (Sworn-In on December 1, 1936); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1939 term; died, February 25, 1978 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Lawn Cemetery, Sharon Hill, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
