HERMAN, Robert Dixon, a Representative from Dauphin County; born, September 24, 1911 in Northumberland, Northumberland County, Pa.; A.B., political science, Bucknell University, 1935; LL.B., Cornell Law School, 1938; honorary doctorate of laws, Dickinson College School of Law (now Penn State Dickinson Law); lieutenant, communications officer, JAG Corps, United States Naval Reserve (1944-1946, World War II); practiced law in office of Hon. Robert E. Woodside; Assistant District Attorney, Dauphin County (1942-1944); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1949 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1951 term; elected, solicitor, Dauphin County (1950-1957); elected, judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Dauphin County (1957-1970; juvenile court judge, 1965-1970); presidential appointee, Federal Judge, United States District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania (1969-1990; senior judge, 1981-1990); died, April 5, 1990 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
