HARKINS, L. Kenneth, a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Homestead, Allegheny County, Pa. on April 5, 1902; graduated, Homestead High School, 1919; A.B., Lehigh University, 1923; attended, graduate courses, University of Pittsburgh; LL.B., Duquesne University Law School, 1930; attorney; elected, council, Homestead; organizer and law teacher, Whitaker Depression University; government appeal agent, Allegheny County Local Draft Board No. 24; unsuccessful campaign, burgess, Munhall (1933); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1934; reelected to the House in 1936, 1938, and 1940; resigned from the House, January 1, 1942; elected, judge, Allegheny County Court (1942-1951); unsuccessful campaign, judge, Common Pleas Court, Pittsburgh; died, February 16, 1961 in Homestead, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
