HARE, Fred P., Jr., a Representative from Somerset County; born in Meyersdale, Somerset County, Pa., February, 27, 1907; graduated, Meyersdale High School, 1925; attended, Susquehanna University; B.A., education, Ashland College; M.A., education, University of Pittsburgh; graduate work, The Pennsylvania State University; served, United States Navy; salesman; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1941 term; reelected to serve the 1943 and 1945 terms; appointed, Commission to Study the School System (1945-1946); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1946); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1947-1959); appointed, Joint Legislative Historical Committee (1947-1948); appointed, General State Authority Commission (1949-1952); executive assistant secretary, Pennsylvania State Education Association; died, December 15, 1980 in Somers Point, Atlantic County, New Jersey.
