GALLAGHER, Thomas J., a Representative from Allegheny County; born, November 20, 1883 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa.; glass worker, United States Glass Company (30 years); national representative, American Flint Glass Workers Union; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1932; switched to the Democratic Party in 1933; resigned from the House, December 31, 1933; elected, city council, Pittsburgh (1934-1965; council president, 1952-1959, 1962-1965); acting mayor, city of Pittsburgh (1959-1962); died, March 14, 1967 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
