GALLAGHER, Edward Thomas, Jr., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, October 20, 1913 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; attended, Franklin High School; graduated, Malvern Preparatory School; B.S., University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School; salesman; unsuccessful campaign for election, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1942); elected to Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1944 and 1946, appointed, Joint Legislative Committee on Retirement Systems and Laws (1947-1948); elected as Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1948; unsuccessful Republican campaign for reelection to the House (1950); supervisor, Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority (1952-1975); member, board of directors, Ninth Street Savings and Loan Association; died, January 6, 1975 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
