ELISH, Peter Joseph, a Representative from Washington County; born, June 23, 1914 in Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Mo.; graduated, Canonsburg High School; attended, University of Pittsburgh; served, United States Army (1941-1942, World War II); operator, Elish and Elish Brokerage and Research Company; elected, council, Canonsburg; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1944; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1946); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1948, 1968); elected, treasurer, Washington County (1949-1953); elected, controller, Washington County (1953-1973); unsuccessful campaign, commissioner, Washington County (1975); appointed, chair, Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board (1972-1980); died, June 29, 1997 in McMurray, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
