DOWNEY, George E., a Representative from Lancaster County; born in Port Deposit, Cecil County, Md., October 3, 1867; attended, public schools of Montrose, Pa.; attended, Harford Soldiers’ Orphan School; served, Company G, 8th Infantry, United States Army (1888-1892, Nebraska, Indian Wars); served, Pennsylvania National Guard (1892-1898); first sergeant, Company F, 13th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (Spanish-American War); employee, United States Postal Service (1901-1931); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1933 and 1935 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1937 term; died, December 12, 1956 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
