DEMECH, Michael, a Representative from Luzerne County; born in Pittston, Luzerne County, Pa., January 21, 1910; coal miner; employed, aircraft parts factory, Murray Corporation; president, United Auto Workers, Local No. 18 (1944-1948); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1946 and served 1 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House in the 1948 General election; elected, council, Morrisville Borough, Bucks County; died, February 5, 2002 in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; interred, First Presbyterian Church of Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, Mercer County, New Jersey.
