ARMSTRONG, Gibson E., a Representative from Lancaster County; born in Butler, Butler County, Pa., August 28, 1943; B.B.A., economics, Westminster College, 1965; captain, Intelligence Officer, Naval Nuclear Weapons Courier, United States Marine Corps (1966-1969, Vietnam War; commendation ribbons recipient); stockbroker and commodity broker; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1977 term and was reelected for 3 consecutive terms thereafter; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1984); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1985-2008); elected, chair, Senate Majority Appropriations Committee (2007-2008); appointed, board, Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement System (1989-2008); appointed, board, Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) (1991-1992); appointed, State Board of Tobacco Settlement; not a candidate for reelection, State Senate (2008).
