COHEN, Herbert B., a Representative from York County; born in York, York County, Pa., July 2, 1900; graduated, York High School; B.S., University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School, 1922; B.L, University of Pennsylvania, Law School, 1925; attorney; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1933 term; reelected to the House to serve the 1935, 1937 and 1939 terms; elected, Majority Leader (1935-1938); elected, Minority Leader (1939-1940); appointed, chair, Joint State Government Commission (1937-1938); appointed, General State Authority Commission (1937-1938); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1940); appointed, Pennsylvania Attorney General (1955-1956); gubernatorial appointee, judge, Supreme Court of Pennsylvania (1957), elected (1958-1970); died, December 2, 1970 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
