CHERVENAK, Michael C. ,Jr., a Representative from Cambria County; born, Portage Township, Cambria County, Pa., on December 22, 1892; attended, Rowe Business College; attended, The Pennsylvania State (University) College; deputy controller, Cambria County; auditor, Portage Borough (1911-1914); teacher (1911-1918); merchant (1918-1929); principal, Puritan Schools, Portage Township (1929-1932); elected, school director (2 terms); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1932; reelected to serve 7 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Commission to Study the Oil Industry (1937-1938); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1948); unsuccessful campaign, treasurer (1935), prothonotary (1939), Cambria County; director, Cassandra Bank; director, Mercy Hospital, Johnstown; died in August of 1979 in St. Michael, Wright County, Minnesota; interred, Saint Marys Cemetery, Portage, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
