CARPENTER, Gaylord N., a Representative from Pike County; born in Uniondale, Susquehanna County, Pa., June 29, 1900; served, United States Army  (1917-1919, World War I; American Expeditionary Forces, 1918-1919); served, Seabees, United States Navy (World War II); merchant; owner and operator, Delaware Valley Meat Market (1937-1950); member, Pike County Republican Committee; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1939 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1941 term; associate judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Pike County (1946-1950); director, East Stroudsburg National Bank; died, May 25, 1974 in East Stroudsburg, Monroe County, Pennsylvania; interred, Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg, Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
