BIRMELIN, Jerry, a Representative from Pike, Susquehanna, Monroe, and Wayne Counties; born in New York City, New York County, NY, April 18, 1949; graduated, Lake Ariel High School, 1967; B.S., University of Scranton, 1973; post-graduate credits, University of Scranton; teacher; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1985 term; reelected to the House to serve 10 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Select Committee to Investigate Alcohol Abuse in Pennsylvania Institutions of Higher Education (1987-1988); appointed, Deputy Whip (1995); not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 2007 term; owner, Birmelin Consulting; campaign director, Chris Hackett for Congress (2008); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (2016).
