BENTLEY, John Robert, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa. on October 16, 1907; graduated, George Westinghouse High School; B.A., University of Pittsburgh, 1929; LL.B., Harvard Law School, 1933; editor, Harvard Law Review (1931-1932); attorney-at-law; assistant solicitor, Pittsburgh (1937-1942); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as Democrat in 1940; elected for 2 more consecutive terms thereafter; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1946); first asssistant solicitor, Pittsburgh (1943-1944); special solicitor, controller's office, Pittsburgh (1944-1951); died, April 17, 1951 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
