BECHTEL, David Whitehouse, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pa., December 9, 1895; graduated, Pottsville High School, 1914; graduated, Dickinson College School of Law (now Penn State Dickinson Law); served, United States Navy (1918-1919, World War I); lawyer (1918-1962); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1929 term; reelected to  serve 2 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1935 term; unsuccesful campaign, United States Congress (1934); solicitor, Controller's office, Schuylkill County (1935-1940); Assistant District Attorney, Schuylkill County (1941-1962); died, February 16, 1967 in Mechanicsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
