RAMOS, Benjamin, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico on August 31, 1956; graduated, Thomas A. Edison High School, 1974; attended, Community College of Philadelphia, 1976; B.A., social studies, Temple University, 1978; M.S., community economic development, New Hampshire College Graduate School of Business, 1992; chief of staff, Philadelphia city council member-at-large Angel L. Ortiz (1984-1988); director of special projects, APM, Inc.; deputy mayor, Philadelphia (1992-1994); president, Selecto Consultants, LLC; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1995, 1997 and 1999 terms; appointed, Select Committee on Pharmaceuticals (2000); appointed, Select Committee on Alternatives for the Operation of the Philadelphia International Airport (2000); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the House (2000, 2014); Acting Secretary of the Commonwealth (2003); unsuccessful at-large campaign, city council, Philadelphia (2007).
