STITELER, W. John, Jr., a Representative from Somerset County; born in Media, Delaware County, Pa., July 11, 1896; graduated, The Pennsylvania State College (now The Pennsylvania State University); graduated, A.E.R University, Beaune, France; sergeant, Infantry, United States Army (World War I, France campaign); colonel, Air Corps, United States Army (World War II); farmer; president and founder, Coal Operators Casualty Company; president, Westmoreland Casualty Company; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1961 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1963 term; died, December 29, 1972 near Zacatecas, Mexico; interred, Barron Cemetery, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
