SMITH, William B., a Representative from Beaver County; born, January 8, 1902 in Beaver, Beaver County, Pa.; graduated, Beaver High School; B.A., Beaver Business College; served, United States Coast Guard Reserve (World War II); secretary, Aliquippa, Pa.; member, Executive Board of the Federal Housing Authority; justice of the peace; real estate and insurance businessman; employed, Pennsylvania State Auditor General’s Office; employed, Pennsylvania State Treasurer’s Office; appointed, Public Utility Commission; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1948; reelected to the House in 1952, 1954, and 1956; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1958); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1950); died in April of 1985.
