O’BRIEN, Joseph M., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, February 24, 1908 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; attended, Kensington High School; graduated, St. Ann’s Commercial School; attended, Banks Business College; attended, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; engaged, real estate and insurance business; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1937 term (Sworn-In on December 1, 1936) and reelected to 4 consecutive terms thereafter; resigned from the House, July 23, 1946; director, real estate sales and management, Office of Real Property, War Assets Administration (1946-1949); appointed, manager, Independence National Historical Park Project (1949); deputy city fire commissioner, Philadelphia; reelected to the House for the 1957 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1958); member, Board of Revision of Taxes, Philadelphia (1959-1970); member, Board of Viewers, Philadelphia (1959-1970); died, May 7, 1970 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
