NELSON, Carl W., a representative from York County; born in Dillsburg, York County, Pa., December 31, 1923; graduated, Mechanicsburg High School; B.S., Millersville State Teachers College (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania), 1949; M.Ed., Pennsylvania State University, 1951; corporal, Air Corps, United States Army (1943-1945, World War II); teacher; principal, Northeastern High School (1949-1958); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1959 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1960, 1962 and 1964); principal, Dover Area School District (1960-1983); research analyst, Democratic Caucus, Pennsylvania State Senate (1961-1962); member, Democratic State Committee; elected, auditor, Dover Township.
