MAY, Arthur John, a Representative from Snyder County; born in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pa., March 21, 1892; graduated, Edwardsville High School; attended, industrial chemistry, Pratt Institute; private, Ordnance Division, United States Army (1917-1919, World War I); lieutenant colonel, Quartermaster Corps, specialist for allied missions in South America, United States Army (1942-1946, World War II); lieutenant colonel, United States Army Reserves (1946-1952); vice-president and managing director, Middleburg Tanning Corporation (1923-1963); unsuccessful candidate for election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1954, 1956, 1958); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1960 and 1962; died while in office, September 1, 1963, in Waloon Lake, Charlevoix and Emmet Counties, Michigan; interred, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.
