HERSHEY, Arthur D., a Representative from Chester County; born in Kinzers, Lancaster County, Pa., November 14, 1937; graduated, Paradise High School; attended, Public Affairs Leadership Program, Pennsylvania State University, 1973; attended, Cecil County Community College; dairy and hog farmer; owner, Ar-Joy Farm; member, West Fallowfield Planning Commission (1975-1982); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1982; reelected to 12 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee (1983-1994); appointed, Chesapeake Bay Commission (2000-2008; vice chair, 2000, 2007; chair, 2008); not a candidate for reelection to the House (2008); senior consultant, Versant Strategies.
