SEMMEL, Paul W., a Representative from Berks and Lehigh Counties; born in Schnecksville, Lehigh County, Pa., November 6, 1939; graduated, Parkland High School, 1957; B.S., agriculture education, The Pennsylvania State University, 1961; graduate studies, The Pennsylvania State University and Temple University; farmer; educator; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1983 term; reelected to serve 11 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Pennsylvania Public Television Network Commission (1987-1988); appointed, Pennsylvania Heritage Affairs Commission (1993-1994); appointed, Pennsylvania Emergency Management Authority (1999-2002); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 2007 term.
