GOODLING, George Atlee, a Representative from York County; born in Loganville, York County, Pa., September 26, 1896; graduated, Bellefonte Academy; graduated, York Collegiate Institute (now York College of Pennsylvania); B.S., horticulture, The Pennsylvania State University; seaman, 2nd class, United States Navy (1918, World War I); fruit farm operator; bank director; Insurer; school director (1933-1961); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1943 term and reelected to serve the 1945, 1947, 1949, 1951, 1953 and 1957 terms; appointed, chair, Joint State Government Sub-Committee on Fish and Game Commissions (1945-1946); appointed, Joint Legislative Committee on the Susquehanna River Fishways (1947-1948); appointed Joint Legislative Committee on Uniform Practice and Procedure (1947-1948); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1955 term; elected, United States Congress (1961-1965, 1967-1975); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to Congress (1964); died, October 17, 1982 in York, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, United Methodist Church Cemetery, Loganville, York County, Pennsylvania.
