GAFFNEY, James Lawrence, a Representative from Northampton County; born in Easton, Northampton County, Pa., January 17, 1897; graduated, Easton High School; accountant, Lehigh Valley Railroad (Conrail) Company (47 years); member, 11th Ward, Democratic Committee, Easton (36 years: chair, 4 years); unsuccessful campaign for election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives  (1942); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1945, 1949, 1951 and 1955 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1946, 1952, 1956); died, November 7, 1988 in Wilson, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
