COOPER, George W., a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Glenfield, Allegheny County, Pa., February 24, 1897; graduated, Allegheny High School; LL.B., Duquesne Law School, 1926; served, 28th Infantry, United States Army (World War I; Purple Heart recipient); second lieutenant, United States Army Reserves (1924-1929); attorney; elected, Mt. Lebanon Republican Committee (1932); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1939 term and served 10 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Joint Legislative Committee on Decedents’ Estates Laws (1947-1948); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1960); unsuccessful campaign, prothonotary, Allegheny County (1947); unsuccessful campaign, register of wills, Allegheny County (1951); died, May 18, 1961 in Mt. Lebanon Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, McMurray, Washington County, Pennsylvania
