BRETH, Harris G., a Representative from Clearfield County; born in Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pa., April 8, 1905; graduated, St. Francis High School; attended, Temple University; attended, University of Pennsylvania; radio commentator, “American Outdoor Sportsmen’s Show,” KDKA Pittsburgh; editor-in-chief, Pennsylvania Sportsmen’s Digest; editor, “Great Outdoors,” Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1941 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1943 term; reelected to the House for the 1949 term and served 6 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Commission on Interstate Cooperation (1959-1960); appointed, Joint State Government Commission (1961-1962); appointed, chairman, Legislative Commission on Space Allocation; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1963 term; elected, commissioner, Clearfield County; died, July 3, 1992 in Lewisburg, Union County, Pennsylvania; interred, Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
