GARRETSON, Joseph, a Representative from York County; born, May 16, 1801 in Manchester Township, York County, Pa.; captain, York Cavalry; engaged, lumber business; elected as an Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1835-1836 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1836); manager, Codorus Navigation Company (1846); elected, justice of the peace (1849-1852); elected, auditor, York County (1852-1853); elected, school director, York (1854); died, November 19, 1876 in York, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, Prospect Hill Cemetery, York, York County, Pennsylvania.
