McCONKEY, Andrew, a Representative from York County; born, January 20, 1793 in York County; first sergent, 3rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Milita (1814, War of 1812); miller; surveyor; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1829-1830 and 1830-1831 terms; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Peach Bottom Township (1835-1839); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1840, 1846); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1844); died, July 8, 1872 in Peach Bottom Township, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, Slateville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Delta, York County, Pennsylvania.
