FERGUSON, James, a Representative from Centre and Clearfield Counties; born, April 9, 1801 in Maryland; farmer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1829-1830 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1830); elected, treasurer, Clearfield County; elected, sheriff, Clearfield County (1835-1838); appointed, associate judge, Clearfield County Court of Common Pleas (1840-1846); died, September 18, 1863 in Lumber City, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania; interred, Lumber City Cemetery, Lumber City, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
