HERRING (HERING), Johann Jacob, a Representative for Centre and Clearfield Counties; born, November 20, 1773 in Manheim Township, York County, Pa.; served, 5th Company, Adams County Militia (1800); tanner; miller; justice of the peace, Centre County (1810-1814); elected, commissioner, Centre County (1813-1814, 1827) unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1822); elected, delegate, State Democratic Convention (1823); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1824-1825 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection  to the House for the 1825-1826 term; died, November 25, 1829 in Gregg Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania; interred, Heckman Cemetery, Spring Mills, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
