SCROGGS, John Alexander, a Representative from Beaver County; born, April 14, 1777 in Lancaster County, Pa.; served, Capt. Myer’s Company, Maryland Militia (War of 1812); served, 137th Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia (War of 1812); appointed, brigadier general, Militia of Western Pennsylvania; unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1822); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1825-1826 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House; elected, prothonotary, Beaver County (1836-1839); died, June 26, 1844 in Beaver, Beaver County, Pennsylvania; interred, Seceder Cemetery, Darlington, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
