SHANNON, John R., a Representative from Beaver County; born, October 11, 1784 in Washington County, Pa.; lawyer (1808-1860); elected, District Attorney, Beaver County (1809-1824); elected, council, Beaver borough (1818-1819); elected, burgess, Beaver borough (1819); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1819); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1826-1827 and 1827-1828 terms; reelected as a Democrat to the House for the 1828-1829, 1830-1831 and 1831-1832 terms; elected, delegate, National Democratic Convention (1832, 1836); elected, State Democratic Convention (1843); died, February 4, 1860 in Beaver, Beaver County, Pennsylvania; interred, Clark Park Cemetery, Beaver, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
