WAGNER, William, a Representative from Philadelphia County; merchant; engaged, shipping business; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1830-1831 term; elected, prison inspector, Northern Liberties (1831-1832); president, Fire Association of Philadelphia (1833); unsuccessful campaign, commissioner, Philadelphia County (1834, 1836); reelected to the House as a Whig for the 1835-1836 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1838); unsuccessful campaign for reelection, Pennsylvania State Senate (1843).
