FORD, James, a Representative from Lycoming, McKean, Potter and Tioga Counties; born, May 4, 1783 in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, NJ; farmer; merchant; engaged, real estate; unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Tioga County (1821); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1824-1825 and 1825-1826 terms; elected, United States Congress (1829-1833); elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Democratic Convention (1835); owner, sawmill and gristmill; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Lawrenceville (1843); died, August 1, 1859 in Lawrenceville, Tioga County, Pennsylvania; interred, Colonel Lindsley Burying Ground, Lindley, Steuben County, New York.
