ELLIS, William Cox, a Representative from Lycoming, McKean, Potter and Tioga Counties; born, May 5, 1787 in Fort Muncy, Lycoming County, Pa.; studied law under Samuel Hepburn; bank cashier; lawyer; elected, United States Congress (1821-1825); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1825-1826 and 1826-1827 terms; reelected to the House as a Democrat for the 1829-1830 term; died, December 13, 1871, Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Muncy Cemetery, Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
