BASTRESS, Solomon, a Representative from Lycoming, McKean, Potter and Tioga Counties; born, January 20, 1788 in Pottstown, Montgomery County, Pa.; ensign, Pennsylvania Militia (1814, War of 1812); weaver and fabric dyer; engaged, furnace business (1814-1817); surveyor; scrivener; elected, burgess, Jersey Shore (1827-1834); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1827-1828, 1828-1829, 1829-1830 and 1830-1831 terms; appointed, associate judge, Lycoming County (1846-1855); died, May 12, 1872 in Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Jersey Shore Cemetery, Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
