RINGLAND, Thomas, a Representative from Washington County; born, August 3, 1783 in County Down, Ireland; major, First Battalion, 1st Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia (1812-1815, War of 1812); farmer; unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Washington County (1820); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1825-1826, 1826-1827 and 1827-1828 terms; president, State Democratic Convention (1828); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1828-1834); elected, Speaker of the Senate (1834); died, January 6, 1868 in Grandview, Edgar County, Illinois; interred, Fairview Cemetery, Kansas, Edgar County, Illinois.
