McGIFFIN, Thomas, a Representative from Washington County; born, January 1, 1784 in Amwell Township, Washington County, Pa.; attended, Canonsburg Academy; studied law under Parker Campbell; lawyer (1807-1841); cattle farmer; elected, council, Washington borough (1826); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives during a Special Election, February 11, 1836; Sworn In, February 18, 1836 to serve the remaining 1835-1836 term; contractor; died, February 5, 1841 in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Washington Cemetery, Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
