NORTON, George, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, circa 1810 in Pennsylvania; lawyer; elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1835-1836 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1836, 1837); elected, auditor, Philadelphia County (1839); elected, delegate, State Whig Convention (1848); unsuccessful campaign, common council, Philadelphia County (1855); died, January 16, 1863 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Trinity Episcopal Churchyard, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; removed to Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
