OVERFIELD, William, a Representative from Northampton, Pike and Wayne Counties; born, November 4, 1786 in Northampton County, Pa.; owner, saw mill; unsuccessful campaign, auditor, Wayne County (1813); elected, sheriff, Pike County (1814-1817); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1824-1825 and 1825-1826 terms; reelected to the House for the 1828-1829 and 1829-1830 terms; appointed, commissioner, Pennsylvania Canal; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1847-1849); farmer; died, November 21, 1864 in Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania; interred, Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Burying Ground, Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
